In honour of my having reached
100+followers I thought I would like to give away
a few Welsh Goodies
The person who is my 100th follower is having a seperate parcel of Welsh goodies
The picture above is a Welsh Lovespoon
The custom of giving lovespoons as tokens of affection was widespread from the 17th century
The spoons, no matter how elaborate are carved from one piece of wood.
The different symbols on the spoon have different meanings.
Nowadays they are given as a token
of gratitude or respect
Along withe the lovespoon there are
A couple of Welsh tea towels
and
a Welsh oven glove
and a few other bits and bobs
On the evening of June 1st
(birthday of one of my grandsons!)
I will put all the names of my followers,
who write and say they would like this gift,
in a container and get someone to take one out.
Thank you all
for deciding to follow me
and
for all of your helpful and kind comments.

This is a lovely generous give away and how wonderful to have 100 followers.I would love to win however..I am in Australia and the postage is very expensive so even though I would love it if I did win I will hold back and let someone closer have a more even chance lol the chances of winning were about 100 to 1 not the luckiest on the planet lol.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Congratulations, dear friend!! I just hit 75 today and was thinking, "When I hit 100, I should have a give away!" I'm very excited for you!
ReplyDeleteYour gift is so generous, any of us would love it. I would, if you would put my name in your hat please! And, Happy Birthday to your birthday boy - we share birthday months - but I'm going to be a tad older later in the month of June!
The spoon is such a lovely tradition and a beautiful work of art! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Blessings, and congratulations! I know I will be excited when I get to that milestone as well!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Donna
How sweet of you! I would love to have some pretties from your home! Thank you and Happy Blogging!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 117 followers. You are doing great with your blogging so far. As much as I would love gifts from Wales, I will decline the invitation to participate in the Giveaway. I used to participate in all kinds of things like this including awards, tags, memes, etc. But--I decided not to do that anymore since I truly didn't have alot of time to add extra things to my blogging. BUT--I appreciate the offer. I'm sure that someone will LOVE the 'goodies' from Wales.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again.
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh my, love the love spoon and like the tea towels too . . . and would be thrilled to be pulled out of the Pembrokeshire hat . .
ReplyDeleteWow, Joan, you hit 100 so quickly - congratulations! If you're willing to ship across the pond I would love to be entered in your giveaway. Anything that will help with Welsh pronunciation would be very helpful! :)

ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day !
I'm so glad I found your blog! I'd LOVE to have these Welsh things. My husband and I went to Pembrokeshire three years ago and had a wonderful time. I like Wales better than England because it's not nearly as crowded. I fell in love with Welsh cakes which we bought in the grocery stores there. Upon arriving home, I found a recipe on a blog for them and have been making them ever since. So yummy!
