As a recipient of this award I am aware that it
comes with responsibility.....

I have to tell 7 things about myself that other bloggers would find interesting:

1.I was born in Scotland just after the war.

2. I went to 9 different schools as my father progressed up his corporate ladder.

3.I married when I was 19 a lovely man 15 years older than myself.  Most of  you know that we have just celebrated our 46th Wedding Anniversary!

4. I have a son and two daughters who have provided us with 8 beautiful grandchildren. 7 handsome boys and one beautiful girl.

5.  I trained as a counsellor and taught counselling at our local college as well as having my own couselling practice.

6. I love where I live and want others to love it too.  I feel so fortunate. So I love my garden and walking around our beautiful coast

7.  I am a Christian and am used in ministry in our church.  In 2006-7 I was President of the English Wing of the Baptist Union of Wales

Now I have to pass the award on to 7 bloggers that I feel are deserving.  That is so hard as I believe everyone is deserving so in passing on to a few it doesn't mean that I feel all the others are undeserving!

Give Away

In honour of my having reached

100+followers I thought I would like to give away

a few Welsh Goodies

The person who is my 100th follower is having a seperate parcel of Welsh goodies

She is Marmepurl

The picture above is a Welsh Lovespoon

The custom of giving lovespoons as tokens of affection was widespread from the 17th century

The spoons, no matter how elaborate are carved from one piece of wood.

The different symbols on the spoon have different meanings.

Nowadays they are given as a token

of gratitude or respect

Along withe the lovespoon there are

A couple of Welsh tea towels

and

a Welsh oven glove

and a few other bits and bobs



On the evening of June 1st

(birthday of one of my grandsons!)

I will put all the names of my followers,

who write and say they would like this gift,

in a container and get someone to take one out.

Walk from Caerfai Bay to St Non's

This is my favourite walk and,

to my mind, this is the best time of year to do it.

It was a glorious morning

looking over the bay at Newgale

It's a lovely drive to St Davids at this time of year as the hedgebanks are full of wild flowers and the farmers are mowing the fields for silage so the sights and scents are wonderful!

We arrived at Caerfai Bay.

The sea was a glorious blue as we started our walk.

We had decided to do the short walk

and had left one car at St Non's.

We usually do a much longer circular walk

but I can no longer manage that

I'm afraid I took a lot of photos and have been torn between

showing the abundance of the wild flowers

and the magnificance of the seascape.

 I have tried to show a little of both

and hope it's not too much!

We could see the convent of St Non's

in the distance

The little Chapel of St Non's

The ruins are said to be the birthplace of St Non,

the mother of

St David (the Patron Saint of Wales)

The spring is said to have healing properties.

I was going to throw off my clothes

and dunk myself in it...

but my friend wouldn't let me!!

We stopped to have coffee on the way home

at an hotel that has

the most wonderful had painted tiles

around its fireplaces

and other walls.

I thought that I had probably posted too many photos

so will leave that for another day!!

What's for Tea

This is my first attempt at doing a table scape.

I have so loved seeing

how others present theirs so beautifully

and I think

I have lovely china and beautiful cloths

but when it comes to it I just lose my nerve!

So today I have decided

to bite the bullet and give it a go.

( with Aplogies to The Tablescaper

whose Seasonal Sundays I hope to infiltrate!!)

The cloth is one like my grandmother used to crochet

I saw these white daisies yesterday morning

and couldn't resist buying them

They are just so beautiful!!

Tomorrow is our 46th Wedding Anniversary
