Trying Again!!

If you go by the pictures
I'm posting
You will lose your bearings
as I picked them,
at random, from a lot of photos!

They are pictures from all over
and from different times of the year!

I've been thinking and thinking
that I want to write another
but then thought
'but I've got no photos.'
And so the time has passed!!

This afternoon I decided
to write anyway.
Again, I'm apologising that it's been
a long while.
As always, life has not been easy!
I was hospitalised
and from that came the diagnosis
of quite a serious and rare condition.
Not cancer
but not good!
It's taken me a while
not just to recover but, also,
to come to terms with it all!!

enough about health...
How are all of you I wonder!?
I have to confess that it's been a while since
I looked at any blogs!

What have I been doing?
I've been very involved with scrapbooking
and am on Instagram.
Scrapbooking I can sit down
and take it easy whilst being creative.
I'll show some of my spreads another time.
If you want to look for yourself its....
guess what??...
I'll post some pics next time ....
when I'm more organised!!

I'm also back at studying Classics
at the Open University.
I had to defer last year when I was so ill.
Again I am having to relearn Latin...
not my favourite!!

I am also enjoying reading books
for a publishing house.
Yesterday I finished a book that really
impacted me!
It's about the Comfort Women of Korea
who were captured, used and abused
by the invading Japanese soldiers.
Totally enthralling
but also eye opening
I don't think I will ever forget it!!
If you want to read it
it's called
'The White Chrysanthemum'
A thoroughly recommended book!!

I think that I have probably written enough
for now!
I look forwards to catching up
with you all again xx

  1. welcome back! I too have not been blogging much but I don't have any excuse! Hope you are well on the mend and look forward to finding you on Instagram....where I am most days! xxx

    1. Good to hear from you. I used to enjoy meeting up with blogging friends .... far and wide. What do you go by on IG ? Be good to catch up with you there! Thanks again for commenting. 😘

  2. Welcome Back! So very happy to see you posting again. Now I will be following you on Instagram too. Hugs.

    1. Thank you. Good to hear from you too. I thought I recognised you on IG. It’s so nice to be in contact in both ways! I’ll be over to see you soon. 😘

  3. So glad to hear from you Joan! I've not been posting much either. It's hard when you haven't blogged for a while to jump back in.

I hope your health is good now and that the new diagnosis was something treatable.

Your pictures are lovely no matter when they were taken! :)

    1. Thank you so much. It’s funny how many of us say the same about not blogging as often. As for pictures ...... I must try and sort them. Problem is I mostly take them on my phone so need to transfer them to the laptop! The pictures of yours that I always remember are the ones you took of a single tree in different seasons. They were lovely!
Do you still go out on your bike exploring?
Right, better get on. Latin is waiting! 😘

  4. So wonderful to see you back here. I've missed you and wondered. Praying for your health...that God will give you strength and grace for each new day. Love your pictures and also hearing about your scrapbooking and reading ventures. A wonderful way to keep the mind working and exploring new paths. That book sounds interesting...but I don't know if I am up to reading that story or not...will have to contemplate that. I mostly read for "pleasure" to relax me...but sometimes also to challenge my I will consider it. Have a blessed day. And again, Welcome Back!

    1. I just wrote a whole long reply to you and then suddenly lost it so perhaps I wasn't supposed to bore you with health talk!!
The book is good but it does open your eyes to a lot of what went on! You need to decide what you like/read!
once again, thanks so much for your lovely welcome. x

  5. Happy to see an update from you Joan! I'm not blogging much anymore either but still like to keep in touch with the bloggers I used to follow. May God bless you and keep you. xox

    1. How lovely to hear from you and so glad that I'm one of the ones that you keep in touch with! I understand about not blogging. Once you stop it's a job to start again, isn't it?? A shame though as you used to have so really interesting blogs of your renovations!
Many blessings to you and yours. x

  6. It is so very wonderful to see a post from you, Joan. Your pictures are beautiful. I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with a rare health condition and I hope you can find relief and a good maintenance program to keep you as well as possible.

Keep posting- it is fun to hear from you! xo Diana

    1. Hi Diana. How lovely to hear from you! It's funny.....once you stop blogging it's so hard to start again! I keep I'll do one and then the day passes.
I love your blogs and hearing about your grandchildren....particularly your granddaughter....who must be growing now. Wedding next??
I intend to try to keep up with everyone and to post myself. My studying takes up a lot of my time ....particularly now I have to relearn Latin this year...ah well! Love the history part though! Take care of yourself. x

  7. Joan, you have been on my mind so I am so happy to see your post. So sorry about the diagnosis, is it something that you can get help with? Maybe medication or therapies? I will be sending you positive thoughts as always my friend. Take good care and come back soon.

    1. How lovely to hear from you. I think of you often....especially your wonderful knitting ....I have you to thank for so many lovely shawls!! Also your naughty dog! I often have a laugh about the naughty little happenings!
unfortunately there's no cure though they are referring me to another specialist to get a respirator. Ah daughter has MS and she's only in her mid 40's so I really can't complain.... in fact I would so willingly have it for her!!
Anyway, enough doom and gloom. I do hope to continue now I've managed 2 blogs within two weeks!! How about that then!!?? I certainly want to see what you are making now!
      Take care. x

  8. Joan it is so nice to see you back here. I am so happy you are able to tske classes and are doing better than the last time I checked. You have been missed. I love your photos. Interesting fact I had my DNA done and I have Wales in it. We may be related :) HUGS B

  10. Scrolling through, I found YOU . . .
Sorry you have been ill, hospitalized . . .
    I love your photos . . .
Your cover photo, each time I see it, gives me the “tinglys!”

    1. Hi Lynne. Really good to hear from you. I'm glad you like the photos. I love that photo too. I should probably change it but just think it's stunning! If it gives you the 'tinglys' I'd definitely better not change it! See you soon. x
