Morning has broken

The other morning
I watched the sun rise as I lay in my hospital bed
It was so glorious
that I wanted to share it with you

I came home from hospital last Friday afternoon
I find it hard to believe that.......
I was there for 2 weeks
and that
Christmas has been and gone!!

I am still very short of breath and have been warned
that I am not allowed to do anything
for the next 2 weeks
and very little more for the next 6
or
I will be back in...
what a difficult choice!!
No guessing which I choose!
But...for me
staying still is sooooo difficult!
At the moment I haven't even the energy to crochet!

Thank you all so much for your messages of love
and support.
They really.......really helped

The wifi in the hospital was terrible
it came and went
I read some of your posts, wrote a comment
and it would disappear.
In the end I just gave up!

I hope to catch up with you all
and your doings...
as I get more energy and rest!

I am so sorry that my posts these last months seem to be all about hospital......
.....I look forward to Spring.....
and being out and about!

Hubbie and I were talking the other night
about his father
who, as a young man,
went to America to get work and see the world
He lived in Michigan
in a place called Peach Ridge, Sparta

This was in 1912

Recently

we found a letter from someone named
Slaughter and think this may
be the person
for whom he worked
so next year
we would like to see what we can find out!

Interesting...
Exciting!

Fancy...100 years ago
setting out across the pond in search of work.
No technology
Just a longing to explore......
and work in new fields...
literally!!

  2. I am so glad to hear that you are home. I am so amazed that, in midst of your hospital stay you find the beauty in the sunrise. So positive. It sounds easy and wonderful doing nothing, but I know it's a much harder challenge when faced with it. It would be so worth it though...so I hope you can find the strength to resist and just rest. My mom suffers from emphysema. She has to really slow down and take good care of herself. So I am sending you positive thoughts and strength to stay restful and not restless...glad you have your computer and wifi now. Love the story about your hubbie's Dad. That will be fun researching. Have you ever seen, "Who Do You Think You Are?" It's American TV show. Not sure if you can watch all the American shows on the computer, but it's a fun one...they research the ancestors of some American Movies stars and travel with them to unfold their stories. :)

  4. Your sunrise is just gorgeous!!! I am so glad you are home now, wonderful news!!! Please take care of yourself and listen to the doctors. Looks like you have a fun project ahead of you! My great grandfather came here from England working his way across as a cook on a ship. Wish I knew more about that.

  7. I am glad you are home and that you are doing well...just don't overdo it and tax your system. I know that it is hard to be "down" when you are used to being active but you will get back there again; you just need to regain your full health first.

It will be interesting to see what you turn on your search in Michigan- xo Diana

  17. Hi Joan. So happy that you are now back at home. You will have to learn to be patient, and really do as the Doctors tell you. I know it's not easy! That sunrise is quite stunning. I wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and peaceful new year. Take care.

  18. Hi Joan, glad you got to come home! I am with Meredith, rest a lot and don't go back in! I am currently reading a book about a man who survived the potato famine and his exploits as he eventually gets to the states. I wouldn't recommend it though, as it's pretty violent and risque.

100 years ago would have been very difficult to move to America but many that live here in Canada did it and that is why we are all here now:) I am happy my ancestors did take that journey to the unknown. I am very interested in what you find. A project that will keep you busy I am sure. Happy New Year Joan it is going to be wonderful I think. HUGS B

  24. It must feel so good to be home and able to sleep in your own bed for a change! Hospitals are so difficult to sleep at- so much activity and interruptions! Do heed Dr.s' orders so you can get back to doing the things you love to do. I hope this is a wonderful new year for you full of many blessings! xx
